Question by Lidybeff: What is the best mobility aid to use for rising out of a chair?
At this stage I don’t want to go spending a fortune on one of those chairs that lifts up, as we don’t know how long I will be in this state. Meantime I am trying to work out what to get to help me to get out of my chair. I had thought a walking frame or something, but I don’t know if there is something more suitable. All advice will be gratefully received.

If you think you will need it only short term then a walking frame would probably do the job fine.
Many chairs at home are very low, you can get something to raise the height of your chair which makes it easier to stand without help. I’ll edit if I can find one similar online.
When you are ready to stand up, shuffle your bottom as far forward on the seat as you can, again it makes standing easier.
edit – here’s a link, and they are not as expensive as I thought they might be! http://www.betterlifehealthcare.com/view_product.php?prodID=6782
